Ministers choose Toyota state cars

Green Party ministers John Gormley TD and Eamon Ryan TD have chosen Toyota Prius as their Governmental cars.

Since 2003 more than 1,200 Priuses have been sold in Ireland. The Prius combines an electric motor and a petrol engine.

A Toyota Prius emits 1 tonne less CO2 into the atmosphere than a comparable sized family saloon in a year.

Last week, Green Party TD Trevor Sargent, Minister of State at the Department of Food and Horticulture, took possession of his new ministerial car, a Toyota Prius formerly used by former Galway Mayor Niall O Brolchain. BB.
