Scooter Braun reveals Sunrise extra security request was ignored for Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber's appearance back in 2010 in Australia is particularly memorable to his manager Scooter Braun.

In an upcoming documentary called Secret Lives From The Watchtower, Scooter recalls the disastrous incident in April 2010 when Justin was meant to perform three songs outside Sydney's Overseas Passenger Terminal .

'I think we started realising we needed security when thousands of people started showing up at radio stations,' he said.

'Then we went to Australia, and we told the Australians at this Sunrise TV show that we were going to need more security, and they didn't believe us, and then the kids rioted the streets,' Scooter added.

Eager fans camped out the night prior but the crowds mounted to over 5,000 by the morning, forcing the producers of Sunrise to cancel the performance and move the location to the Sunrise studios later that day.

Despite the move, thousands of teenagers ran through peak hour traffic to catch a glimpse of the then 16-year old idol.

The riot squad later had to come out in full force to keep the screaming teenagers at bay.

According to news.com Sunrise's former producer Adam Boland, Scooter had every right to be distraught.

'He's probably right — but I'm not sure any level of security could have prevented pre-teen girls from collapsing in the street merely at the thought of their idol sleeping at a hotel around the corner,' he said.

'We had done big concerts almost every week for years and had never seen anything like it,' Adam added.

He then admitted that it was a freak event that left even the riot squad terrified.

'Bieber was still on the rise at the time so we underestimated his fan base. It was a mistake we only made once.'
