PDP LOYALISTS BLOCK EKITI ASSEMBLY TO STOP EKITI GOVERNOR'S IMPEACHMENT

The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in Ekiti State had since 17th November, 2014 stayed away from house proceedings and recently served an impeachment notice to the governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, who they accused of brigandage, stalking and other constitutional breaches as the reason for the impeachment notice.

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State on Monday blocked two major roads leading to the State House of Assembly on hearing rumours that the 19 APC lawmakers were sitting to impeach Governor Fayose.

While a toyota hilux carrying men and officers of the police and the department of State Services manned the entrances to the Assembly, some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members erected canopies about 200 metres from the Assembly premises. Some sat quietly while others danced to music supplied in front of the old complex all in anticipation of what was going to happen.
