Brazilian Blowout is a semi-permanent hair straightening method. In this treatment, liquid keratin is used to form a protective layer around each hair strand to prevent it from getting damaged. This treatment originated in Brazil, and it uses native ingredients such as camu camu, acai berry, and annatto seed to smoothen your hair by eliminating frizz. You may think that it is the same as other keratin treatments, but it differs from them in some major ways.

How Is Brazilian Blowout Different From Other Keratin Treatments?

Brazilian Blowout (also known as Brazilian keratin treatment) is done with a mild formula. It requires lesser post-treatment maintenance compared to other treatments, such as keratin treatment that makes use of formaldehyde, and the Japanese hair straightening method that involves the use of strong chemicals and requires elaborate post-treatment maintenance. However, the results of these treatments are permanent, while a Brazilian Blowout is temporary.

Want to get a Brazilian Blowout but don’t want to pay an exorbitant rate at the salon for it? Well, you can do it at home at a fraction of the cost! Read the next section to find out how.

A Step-By-Step Guide To Brazilian Blowout/Keratin Treatment

What You Need

  • Clarifying shampoo
  • Brazilian Keratin Treatment kit (depending on the length and volume of your hair)
  • Straightening iron
  • Blow dryer
  • Rubber gloves
  • Butterfly clips
  • Mask (to cover your nose and mouth)
  • Plastic bowl
  • Hair brush

Note: If you want your Brazilian Blowout to last longer, you will need to add formaldehyde to it. Formaldehyde is not present in hair products as it has been banned due to its high chemical concentration.

Brush your hair to remove all knots and tangles. Use a flat iron to straighten it, section by section. Iron each section at least 5-7 times to make sure it is poker straight. However, be careful not to burn your hair.

It’s time for you to show off your shiny, smooth, and straight tresses. Wait three to four days before washing your hair with a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioning it.

A major concern for many women who want to get a Brazilian Blowout is how long they will have to spend doing it at home or getting it done at the salon. Here’s what you need to know.

How Long Does A Brazilian Blowout Take?

It takes about 60-90 minutes to do a Brazilian Blowout on hair of normal volume and length. But, the duration may vary depending on the length, volume, and texture of your hair.

How Long Does Brazilian Hair Straightening Last?

If you take good care of your hair after the treatment and avoid using shampoos that contain sulfates or chlorine, a properly done Brazilian Blowout may last up to 3-4 months. It may last even longer if you don’t wash your hair too often.

Is Brazilian Blowout Safe?

Expert hair stylists have confirmed that Brazilian Blowout is safe for any type of hair. It makes your tresses lustrous by improving its moisture levels.
